My Top Picks from Kerala, India (Care-ala).

A couple years ago, I went on a trip to visit my hubby’s family in Kerala (India). We turned that trip into a grand trip and went to Rome (Remember my post?), Florence, Tuscany, Venice, Positano (Remember my post?) and Abu Dhabi/Dubai (stay tuned for posts on rest of the locations).

Kerala is gorgeous. I had been to India only once before that in my life about 20 years ago to visit the part that I am from in India- Gujarat (the North). Kerala is in the South and boy is it completely different than the North. I was smitten with beauty, caring personalities of people and simple lifestyle.

Most of our time was spent in the city (Ernakulam) where I would wake up everyday to this gorgeous scenery for my morning run (which most people stared at me since it is not so common to go running outside). The weather was actually perfect (aside from the sheer humidity which caused my hair to blow up and my straightener didn’t work so my hair was in a bun the entire time).
Most of our days were spent shopping at Lulu Mall and hanging out with family. Getting dressed like a Diva was just the cherry on top!

My most favorite thing was fresh coconut water and fresh watermelon juice- I could not get enough of it!

About halfway through our trip, we took the road less travelled and went to the village (near Mallappally) to visit Jibin’s grandmother (Ammachi). That was definitely an eye-opening experience. Village life is extremely different than city life without.

I didn’t enjoy the bugs and creatures or the lack of air conditioning; however, I immediately fell in love with the simplicity and calmness village life brings to you.

Jibin’s family in the village threw us a huge dinner party which was pretty overwhelming and so much fun to attend.

Everyone was so sweet and welcoming and made us feel like the guests of honor.

One of my most favorite experiences was riding a houseboat. It was so peaceful and backtracking the waters of Kerala was very surreal.

The best part was having the houseboat experience with all of the cousins!

That’s Kerala in a nutshell! There’s much more on my list for the next time around!

First off I would like to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question which
I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to find out how you center
yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are
generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
    Thanks! adreamoftrains web hosting
