Mouth-water Monday: The Super Bowl Part I
This super bowl is more commonly known as an acai bowl. I had my first one ever almost a year ago when we went to Puerto Rico for my sister’s bachelorette party and it was amazing. When I came back to Atlanta, I knew I had to find a place that would have one that was as amazing as the one in Puerto Rico. After a lot of searching and some disappointments, I finally found one that lived up to it- at Luv a Bowl in Johns Creek. There are several different options but my favorite is the Johns Creek Bowl with some peanut butter on top!
What is acai?
Grapefruit like fruit from acai palm trees found more commonly in rainforests of South America.
Why acai?
Acai berries are known as “super foods” because it contains many antioxidants (much more than other berries), fiber and healthy fats.
Acai can be difficult to find in grocery stores, but here is an easy recipe that is pretty good:
Servings: 2, Calories: 450-550 per serving
Ingredients:
2 cups frozen strawberries
2 frozen sliced bananas
4 tbsps acai powder
1 cup almond milk
2 tbsps peanut butter or almond butter
1 tbsp honey
Blend the above together until there is a thick consistency like a smoothie.
Toppings:
1 banana, strawberries and blackberries or raspberries
Honey, granola, coconut flakes, chia seeds and 1 tbsp peanut butter

Where do you find Acai powder in the market? Also, what stores in your experience carry acai berries?

Well hello Sweeti!
Thank you for your great question!
1) You can find it conveniently online at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EHNLF4Q/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00EHNLF4Q&linkCode=as2&tag=sonamitholi04-20&linkId=GWWN6P2DRQPTEU2K
2) Alternatively, you can find it in grocery stores in the freezer section where they already have the acai blend made up and all you have to do is add whatever toppings you like! I have seen it in the frozen section at Kroger and Publix, but I am sure any whole foods market would carry it as well!
I hope you have a great day and thanks again for such an education question!

Love this post! Also could you please do a post on your favorite superfoods? Are there any superfoods that you eat every week or do you rotate them?

Manishi!
Thank you SO much for your comment! The “superfoods” I eat weekly are chia seeds, almond milk, quinoa, organic gluten-free oats and bananas. That is a very good request- I will definitely keep that in mind!
Thank you for being a loyal reader!
